"Dan Brand and Tipi: The War of the River" depicts a frontier conflict between settlers and Native Americans. When Indian chief Warning Thunder learns of white settlers advancing over the mountains into tribal lands, he calls his warriors to war, but Dan Brand and his companion Tipi work to prevent bloodshed by leading the settlers to build fortified floating rafts down the river instead of taking the dangerous mountain trails. As tensions escalate, Warning Thunder declares his intent to attack the settlers with arrows, yet ultimately calls his warriors to a council where Eye of Hawk, a defeated chief, advocates for peace, persuading Warning Thunder to abandon the assault and pursue a peaceful resolution.
