Comet #85 is an all-star anthology comic featuring multiple stories. "Shorty the Deputy Sheriff" follows the red-haired character as he attempts to deliver a Christmas pudding and encounters various mishaps involving the sheriff's pudding, culminating in comedic chaos with horses and vehicles. "The Adventures of Robin Hood" depicts Robin Hood and his men rescuing Hal Greensleeves from the Normans while surrounded by enemies, with the story concluding in celebration at Nottingham Castle. Additional stories include "Buck Jones and the Black Bandit," "Scoop the Comet Reporter," and "Simon the Simple Sleuth," along with "The Coral Island," a tale about Ralph and Jack discovering mysterious dark objects beyond a reef, and "Sammy Shuteye and the Christmas Cheer." The issue also includes a "Whose Hats are These?" puzzle contest offering prizes including five super bikes, an engine spotters' guide, and various other gifts.
