Edward Finch, a meek office clerk who dreams of grandeur, finds himself unexpectedly thrust into a vivid, living world of athletic triumph after painting his cellar with a mysteriously marked white paint. As he races through impossible feats in a fantastical Olympic arena, he earns legendary medals—only to wake back in his dim cellar, now clutching the real, tangible proof of his impossible adventure. With the paint shop closed and the world unaware, Finch must decide how to handle the medals and the mystery of the paint before anyone else discovers the truth.
Adam Jones, a field representative for the Institute for Psychic Research, investigates a series of eerie occurrences in a seemingly ordinary home, uncovering that strange lights and noises are explained by mundane causes—from settling pipes and wind to hidden record players and cleverly placed speakers. As he interviews the nervous residents, he reveals how ordinary household sounds and human tricks can be mistaken for supernatural phenomena, all while keeping the mystery of what’s truly behind the disturbances firmly unresolved.
