"The Story of Light" follows Thomas Edison's development of the incandescent light bulb, detailing early scientific experiments by Humphry Davy, De La Rue, and William Grove that produced light through electricity before Edison's breakthrough. Edison works with his colleague John to discover that a carbonized bamboo filament can create a long-lasting, bright light that won't burn up without oxygen. The narrative then shifts to a futuristic visit to General Electric's "University of Light," where visitors tour facilities that manufacture over 10,000 types of bulbs and learn about specialized electrical bulbs for photography, medical use, heating, germicidal purposes, ultraviolet tanning, crime detection, and industrial applications.
