About this Collection

This volume collects the complete run of Zorro comic stories published by Dell Comics during the pre-Code era of the early 1950s. Featuring the adventures of Don Diego de la Vega as his swashbuckling alter ego Zorro, these tales capture the character's classic pulp heroics before the imposition of the Comics Code Authority. The collection presents a key piece of Zorro's comic book history, showcasing the original Dell material in a single hardcover edition from Hermes Press.

"The Mark of Zorro" delivers a classic tale from the early Dell Pre-Code era, featuring Gaylord Du Bois’s sharp storytelling and Carlos Freixas’s dynamic artwork, capturing the tension and flair of Zorro’s vigilante justice. When Panchita seeks help from the masked hero, her plea sets off a chain of deception and daring, as Zorro uncovers a conspiracy threatening the Concholo estate. Cover by Carlos Freixas, this 2014 Hermes Press collection preserves the original 60-cent comic’s spirit with care and authenticity.

Panchita pays Bardoso to contact Zorro for her, but he notices a Senor Bardoso listening in to the conversation. Bernardo also overhears and alerts Diego, who is mourning the death of Lolita. Zorro meets Panchita and is informed that Vicente is involved in shady dealings with Jose Hernandez and demands that she marry Morelos. Zorro discovers that Morelos and Hernandez are conspiring to bleed the Concholo estate dry, so plans a trap with the Governor, who gives a full pardon to the Fox. Diego then challenges Morelos to a duel and wins, forcing the villain into exile thanks to the Governor.
