In 1820, Don Diego returns to his homeland from Spain, summoned by his father amid the oppressive rule of the pueblo’s new Commandante. Determined to resist tyranny without drawing suspicion, he adopts the guise of Zorro, the Fox, enlisting his loyal servant—disguised as a deaf and dumb man—to aid in gathering intelligence. His first mission: liberate a wrongfully imprisoned landowner, setting the stage for a quiet war of justice beneath the surface of a corrupt regime.

In "Den hemmelige gangen," Diego uses a hidden passage behind a fireplace to shelter Tornado in a secret cavern, while Capitan Monastario offers a hefty reward for the capture of Senor Nacho Torres. As Torres takes refuge at a nearby mission, the Capitan attempts to lure Zorro out by arresting a vaquero named Avila, who bears a striking resemblance to the masked hero.

In "Redningsdåden," Zorro makes a daring rescue, pulling rebel Enrique from a firing squad and smuggling him to safety in a hidden cave. With the help of Bernardo, he sets a clever trap to mislead Sgt. Garcia and his men, buying Enrique precious time to flee into the wilderness.
