"Summertime Interlude" follows a newspaper reporter named Ernie Gray who receives an assignment to cover a story about Prince Jordeaux of Bulovia, a young, handsome, unattached prince visiting the country to pick a bride. When Ernie's girlfriend Doll becomes jealous over his work commitment, she demands assurance of his love, prompting Ernie to cancel their date to work. After Ernie assigns the prince story to his coworker Inez, she begins investigating the assignment while Ernie handles hotel management duties, ultimately creating romantic complications when both find themselves drawn into the prince's visit and competing for the story's focus.
