About this Collection

This volume collects the first chapters of the 2025 series, launching a new take on the classic samurai adventure manga by Gosho Aoyama. It follows the young, wild swordsman Yaiba as he embarks on a quest for legendary treasure and battles supernatural foes in feudal Japan. The edition includes the opening story arc that establishes the cast and sets the tone for the series' blend of action and humor.

"Yaiba Appears" kicks off a wild new chapter in the Yaiba: Samurai Legend series, introducing Yaiba Kurogane as he trains in the South Pacific jungle with his father. When a run-in with angry gorillas leads to an accidental trip to Tokyo packed inside a shipment of pineapples, Yaiba and his father find themselves in the heart of the city—where a reunion with an old friend sets the stage for an unexpected new chapter. Written by Gosho Aoyama and Andria McKnight, with art and inks by Gosho Aoyama, and lettered by John Hunt, the issue features a striking cover by Gosho Aoyama.
