X-Men: Phoenix - Legacy of Fire #1

Jul 2003 · Marvel · 2.99 USD; 4.75 CAD

In an alternate reality where the Phoenix Force takes the form of a sentient sword, sorceress Madelyne Pyre prepares her younger sister Jena for a legacy of fire and duty. Written and illustrated by Ryan Kinnaird, this first issue introduces a powerful lineage of guardianship, as Madelyne passes on the secrets of the Phoenix Sword to her sister before her time as its wielder ends. The cover, also by Kinnaird, captures the intensity of this momentous transition.

In one alternate reality, the Phoenix Force is not just an entity, but a weapon. The Phoenix Sword as it is called is guarded and wielded by the sorceress, Madelyne Pyre, who inherited the sword from her mother. As Madelyne's time as wielder of the sword is nearly up, she trains little sister Jena in the arts of fighting and magic so she can shoulder the responsibility of carrying such great power.
