“The Icy Beginning!”

In "The Icy Beginning!", twelve-year-old Bobby Drake struggles to keep his newly manifested ice powers hidden in his quiet suburban life—until a moment of desperation forces him to reveal them to protect the girl he likes. After being arrested, he’s rescued by Cyclops and brought to Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters, where he becomes the second recruit to the X-Men. Written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and illustrated by Phil Noto, this issue captures the emotional weight and quiet wonder of a young mutant discovering his place in a world that fears what it doesn’t understand, all rendered in Noto’s striking, expressive style.
