“Past Is Prologue”

In "Past Is Prologue," Chris Claremont and Steve Scott deliver a tense, character-driven chapter as Nick Fury investigates a deadly SHIELD operation in the Andes—only to be ambushed by a Sentinel after his team is wiped out. Flashing back to a WWII mission, Fury recalls Wolverine’s mysterious past with the Howlers and a Nazi doctor named Trask, while the X-Men, led by Xavier, arrive on the scene to face the threat head-on. The cover by Tom Grummett and Terry Austin captures the moment’s urgency, matching the issue’s sharp blend of history and danger.

Fury is tracking a SHIELD operation in the Andes Mountains when things go wrong and his crew is killed. Xavier sends the X-Men with Fury to investigate and, as they fly to the disaster site, Fury remembers a mission from WWII where Wolverine joined the Howlers in taking down a Nazi doctor with the last name of Trask. As the X-Men land in the Andes and have a look around, they are attacked by a Sentinel.
