Ken King races his modified motorcycle against Homer's vintage hot rod, but Ken sabotages Homer's vehicle by applying a sealing agent to the ignition terminals weeks prior, hoping to short out the ignition and win the race. However, Ken's plan backfires when Homer, driving carefully and letting Ken take the lead, discovers Ken's tampering and catches up to defeat him, revealing that King isn't as clever as he thought.

A kid discovers old home movies of his dad as a young hot rodder—complete with a souped-up flathead 8 and run-ins with the law—and learns that his straight-laced father was once part of the racing scene himself. When his dad decides to build a classic hot rod from scratch with help from the neighborhood kids, including a friend whose father owns a prized 1932 Stutz, the project becomes a chance to bridge generations and prove that the old cars still have plenty of spirit left in them. This 1967 story celebrates the timeless appeal of hot-rodding and the surprising secrets parents keep.
