About this Issue

Wonder Woman (Vol. 3) #10 closes the 'Love and Murder' arc — the only comics work novelist Jodi Picoult ever produced — and serves as one of the bridge chapters between the troubled relaunch era of Volume 3 and Gail Simone's celebrated subsequent run. As the final chapter of a crossover-driven story arc, it dramatizes a genuinely charged mother-versus-daughter confrontation that forced Diana to articulate what she had become since leaving Themyscira, giving the character a thematic through-line that Simone would later build upon. It also stands as a period document of DC's turbulent post-Infinite Crisis editorial management of Wonder Woman, a cautionary case study in scheduling-driven storytelling compromises that ultimately clarified what the character needed going forward.

History

The issue was produced in the context of a deeply troubled editorial period: original Volume 3 writer Allan Heinberg had delivered only four issues by the time his delays forced DC to commission both Picoult's bridging arc and the companion 'Amazons Attack!' miniseries. Picoult, a bestselling mainstream novelist with no prior comics credits, began her run with issue #6 — her comics debut — and concluded it here at #10, never returning to the medium. Interior art was handled by Paco Diaz rather than the cover team of Terry and Rachel Dodson, reflecting the production pressures the book faced throughout this period.
