Wolverine: Revenge - Red Band #4

History

The Wolverine: Revenge – Red Band series launched in August 2024 as the explicit-content companion to the standard Wolverine: Revenge miniseries, with each Red Band issue containing the core story from its counterpart plus additional pages of escalated violence, packaged in a polybag. The creative team of writer Jonathan Hickman and artist Greg Capullo — with inks by Tim Townsend, colors by Alex Sinclair and FCO Plascencia, and letters by VC's Cory Petit — was assembled with the explicit blessing of Marvel to produce an unconstrained Wolverine story timed to the character's 50th anniversary; Capullo publicly described the collaboration as Marvel removing 'the fences' and letting the team off its leash. Editor Mark Basso oversaw the series under Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski, and issue #4 shipped on January 22, 2025 with a March 2025 cover date as the fourth of five installments. The story's content and format proved popular enough that Marvel subsequently commissioned a Wolverine: Revenge – Red Band Raw: Black & White Edition reprinting all five issues in Capullo's uncolored pencils, with the Black & White counterpart to issue #4 arriving on October 15, 2025.
