The issue includes "Captain Wings and the Spider and the Fly-Guy," in which a woman named Laura Gwynn becomes entangled with criminals and airmen. Another prominent story follows Wing Commander Douglas Bader, a decorated RAF pilot who is shot down over France, taken prisoner by the Nazis, and later escapes from a German hospital by lowering himself from a third-story window on bedsheets before being recaptured—ultimately remaining a prisoner of war until peace is declared. The issue also features "Air Heroes" stories and other tales, as indicated on the cover alongside references to "Ghost Squadron" and "Phantom Falcon."
In post-war China, Captain Wings welcomes visitors to his base, including the charming Bitsy and a mysterious magazine writer named Gatti—who's actually scoping the layout for a heist. When a transport plane arrives carrying half a million dollars in gold meant for a hospital, Gatti executes his scheme with ruthless precision, drugging the guards and making off with the cargo. Now Captain Wings must pursue the thieves through the skies and across hostile terrain to recover the gold and stop Gatti's deadly operation before it's too late.
