Wings Comics #16 is an aviation-themed anthology featuring multiple stories. Captain Wings returns to American soil as an undercover flying instructor at Kelly Field, where a Nazi saboteur—the deranged ace known as the Mad Killer—has been terrorizing the U.S. Air Corps with a campaign of shootdowns and sabotage. When Wings discovers the enemy pilot's latest scheme threatens a crucial South American naval escort mission, he must race against time to stop the killer's deadly plot.

Dale and Jerry of the Phantom Falcons volunteer to stop a heavily guarded German munitions train rolling from Essen to occupied France, but their Defiant takes flak and crashes near Lille. Disguised as a French watchman, Jerry boards the train while Dale sets a time bomb aboard one of the cars—but when Nazi suspicion forces Jerry to stay on the speeding locomotive, the pilots must orchestrate a daring rescue while enemy fighters close in. With the bomb ticking away and an escape in the balance, the Falcons mount a desperate plan to bring their man home and destroy the deadly cargo.
