Wild Boy and his companion Keeto witness a village ceremony where the warrior Askurri is blessed to marry Chief Nedru's daughter Wampitti—but the spurned warrior Wagabi curses them all, invoking the ancient spirit demon Kalunga from the great swamp. When mysterious killings begin and the terrified village begs for Wagabi's return, Wild Boy devises a bold plan to confront the supposed curse and expose the truth in the swamp's murky depths.

Rex Cutler and his camera crew come to Bwamali territory to film jungle wildlife, but their presence stirs up suspicion among Chief Watibbi's tribe—especially the vengeful Ungar, who blames their machines for driving animals away.
