Widow the Origin #1 (1997) introduces a chilling tale of scientific hubris and unnatural beginnings, centered on a pregnant woman subjected to a professor’s deadly experiments—her survival results in twin children, one grotesquely deformed, the other seemingly ordinary. As the girl rapidly ages and her extraordinary nature becomes impossible to ignore, the consequences of those experiments begin to unfold in ways no one could have predicted. Written and illustrated by Mike Wolfer, with cover art by Mike Wolfer, this 3.95 USD comic from 1997 blends body horror with psychological tension in a story that lingers long after the final page.

A professor's unethical experiments on kidnapped men and women end up as failures with the victims dead. When he experiments on a pregnant woman, she also dies but twin babies survive. The male is hideously deformed, but the girl appears normal. As she matures at an accelerated rate due to the professor's drugs, it becomes clear that she is not normal.
