In college, Reed Richards ditches best friend, Ben Grimm, for arrogant, brainy Victor Von Doom. Together, the two eventually build a rocket designed to fly civilian passengers to the moon. Unfortunately, Doom turns out to be a backstabbing jerk who shields himself behind special armor, hoping a barrage of cosmic rays will kill his business partner. Instead, the crew members develop fantastic powers and crash to Earth. As Doom, now a rocky Thing, tries to finish off Reed, they happen upon a gamma bomb testing site where Ben Grimm saves his old college buddy and becomes the Hulk in the process.
