Tex Dawson goes to work for rancher Mike Spears, who claims Spence Calhoun is out to kill him. Dawson determines there is no such person as Calhoun and Spears plans to dress up in that guise so he'll die and his wife will inherit his insurance money. Dawson convinces Spears to let him help regain his money.
