"Pipestem Pete" relates the true story of Pete Snyder, an unusually thin man from the East who travels to Yuma, Arizona for his health and encounters stage jockey work near Rawhide Junction. When Sheriff Rex Cuyler learns that Pete has tamed the town, he informs Pete of rustlers who killed old Jake Snyder and requests his help tracking the criminals. Pete joins the sheriff and others in pursuing the rustlers through the hills, ultimately discovering black steers with hair caught in rocks—evidence that the thieves drove stolen cattle through a mountain passage, leading the posse to locate and apprehend the outlaws.
