Billy kills Joey, after learning Maggie has a video of a previous murder, and that Coley plans to dance at the Bishop house. Billy kills Maggie, after learning Carolina has the tape. Sammy gets the tape and kills Carolina, but Miz Liza kills him in turn. Billy cons Douglas into thinking he's Coley's "boyfriend" so he can videotape his performance. Coley performs onstage, with Douglas, Kit, and a young black man. Chief Beasley informs Judge O'Hara that he now has enough evidence to bring in Billy, but the judge also wants Coley thrown in jail for "turning" his son Douglas queer. Beasley's men arrest everyone at the Bishop house, but are so focused on beating up Coley that Billy escapes. Beasley lets Coley track Billy down in the swamp, but guilt-induced visions of his victims lead to Billy drowning in the bog. Coley almost dies trying to save him. Later, Coley makes a deal with the local D.A. to plead guilty if Kit is allowed to go free. Coley assures Kit the jail won't hold him long.
