Twenty nine years in the future, Colcord and his Sentinel army have a firm grip on the world and mutants are on the verge of extinction. Wolverine leads his X-Men to a gathering called by Magneto. Nimrod Sentinels lead the regular Sentinels straight to the mutants. Magneto destroys the Sentinels and the mutants cheer him as their new leader. Wolverine and Magneto travel to visit Earth's few remaining non-mutant heroes to ask for help. The heroes agree but are completely wiped out. Wolverine learns that this was all part of Magneto's plan to show the world that the Sentinels must be stopped.
