Dejah accompanies her old science teacher on an archaeological dig for a mysterious artifact. Unfortunately, one of Syl Mak's other students betrays him and shows a group of mercenaries how to get to the ancient machine first. Dejah and Syl follow the band of ruffians through booby trapped chambers but are finally forced to reveal their presence when spiders attack. Their prize turns out to be a time travel device and Sav Tanek threatens Dejah's life in order to coerce Syl into working the machine. Syl turns it on and Dejah knocks the villain into the portal, sucking him into the time stream.
