Big Jim and three other US Marines are told to hold a position while their forces evacuate. They hold for a time, but their forces can't retreat because a bridge is out. The other three men start praying, but Big Jim thinks it's foolish. When the Air Force drops a bridge-maker, allowing them to proceed, Big Jim has a change of heart about faith.
