Walt Disney's Silly Symphonies #9
In "Paul Bunyan," a larger-than-life legend takes center stage in a whimsical tale from Walt Disney's Silly Symphonies #9, a 1959 35-cent comic. Paul Murry brings the towering tale to life with his dynamic art and lettering, capturing the mythic scale of the lumberjack’s exploits in a world where size and strength are measured in stories. The cover, by Tony Strobl and Norm McGary, sets the stage with a bold, playful image that perfectly captures the story’s grand, imaginative spirit.

Jiminy Cricket brings a wind-up toy train to the bug village, to use for gathering and transporting food. He tricks obnoxious, but unusually strong, Boris Bug to supply the winding-up power. When Boris loses the magic ring that supplies his strength, he works to get rid of the train rather than let the other bugs learn that he has lost his strength.
