“Scooting to Success”

In "Scooting to Success," Mickey and Goofy take a sea cruise in Goofy’s quirky war-surplus tugboat, the Phoebe B. Beebe, only to run into their old nemesis Black Pete and his clunky salvage ship, the S.S. Foulbottom. Just as they’re about to be rammed, the tugboat suddenly veers away on its own and speeds off—towed by a mysterious submarine bound for an unknown destination. Written by Carl Fallberg and illustrated by Paul Murry, with a cover by Daniel Branca, this 1988 adventure blends classic Disney charm with a surprising twist, all in a 95-cent comic from Gladstone.

While Mickey and Goofy are testing out Goofy's war-surplus tugboat, the Phoebe B. Beebe, on a sea cruise, they encounter their old enemy Black Pete and his salvage vessel the S.S. Foulbottom. Disabled and about to be rammed by Pete's much larger ship and sunk, the Phoebe B. Beebe suddenly turns out of Pete's path and picks up sufficient speed to make a getaway. Our heroes find that they have been towed by a submarine, headed for an unknown destination.
