AC Comics, founded by Bill Black as Paragon Publications in 1969 and operating out of Longwood, Florida throughout the early 1990s, built its publishing model on reprinting Golden Age material from defunct companies whose properties had lapsed into the public domain. Wall of Flesh #1 (January 1992) fits squarely into that editorial strategy: it draws from Fawcett (This Magazine Is Haunted #12, 1953), Fox Feature Syndicate (A Star Presentation #3, 1950), and Magazine Enterprises (The Ghost Rider #7, 1952), converting all material to black and white. The creative talent behind the original stories — Joe Kubert, Wally Wood, Bob Powell, Dick Ayers, and Gardner Fox — represents a who's-who of early-1950s horror and genre comics, with new framing and production overseen by the AC editorial team, with the cover credited to Bill Black.
