Hösten 1926: Viktor blir kallad Äsphult, där han upptäcker kopplingar till att han blivit en syndaätare och att han kommer att spela en stor roll i kampen mot framtida ondskefulla händelser. Han får hjälp av den avlidna Koge-Stina, Emma Rygels spöke och fru Bomba för att undkomma en stor fara i skogen utanför Äsphult. Fader Eriksson dyker upp i Äsphult och berättar en del om den kommande kampen.
