“Isn't It Romantic?”

In "Isn't It Romantic?", Veronica is stuck at home while her parents jet off to Hawaii for a business trip—until they offer her a surprising twist: she can bring one friend along, if she picks the winner of a friendly competition. With Betty, Nancy, and Midge all vying for the spot, Veronica sets the rules: the one who does the most thoughtful things for her over the next few days earns the trip. Written by Barbara Slate and illustrated by Dan Parent, with inks by Jim Amash, colors by Barry Grossman, and letters by Jack Morelli, this 2008 issue captures the charm and playful rivalry of small-town friendships, all wrapped in a cover by Dan Parent.
