Venom #2

Venom's maw fills the entire cover of this 2017 Marvel series, Gerardo Sandoval's extreme close-up putting those enormous, jagged teeth and that curling crimson tongue front and center in genuinely unsettling fashion. The symbiote's dark, veined mass looms against a pale background, making the creature feel less like a character and more like an oncoming force of nature. It's a striking way to kick off the early run of this series, and Sandoval's linework rewards a long, slightly uncomfortable look.
