Vengeance of the Moon Knight #1

History

The series was announced by Marvel in September 2023, just as the preceding Moon Knight (2021) series was entering its three-issue 'Death of Moon Knight' arc (issues #28–30), with the creative team of writer Jed MacKay, artist Alessandro Cappuccio, colorist Rachelle Rosenberg, and letterer Cory Petit continuing without interruption. Editor Tom Brevoort oversaw both volumes, lending the relaunch editorial continuity rather than a true creative break. Cappuccio designed the new black costume with deliberate reference to ancient Egyptian banded armor and replaced the character's signature batons with weapons evoking Nile flowers as depicted in hieroglyphics — a design philosophy he described publicly as serving both thematic and visual differentiation from Marc Spector's classic white suit. The cover for issue #1 was produced by David Finch, with a wide array of retailer-incentive variants — including contributions from Greg Capullo and Frank Miller — signaling Marvel's confidence in the launch.
