Vasco #9
The ninth volume of Gilles Chaillet's historical adventure series takes Vasco to the sun-baked world of Persia, as announced by the Dutch title "Het stof van Ispahan" — The Dust of Isfahan. The cover, drawn and inked by Chaillet himself, sets the scene vividly: a white horse rears dramatically in the foreground while a young traveler in a red tunic faces a group of armed, elaborately costumed soldiers, with the domed minarets and ochre walls of an Eastern city rising behind them. It's a richly detailed tableau that captures the tension and atmosphere Chaillet brings to this Le Lombard series, with coloring by Chantal Defachelle lending the desert setting a warm, sun-drenched glow.
