The cover of this twenty-fourth volume in the long-running Vasco series sets an immediately gripping scene: the dark-haired hero stands boldly in the foreground, draped in a vivid red cloak and gripping a weapon, while behind him a chaotic procession of riders, a heavily laden cart, and fleeing figures unfolds against the unmistakable silhouette of Vesuvius looming under a turbulent sky.
