The fifteenth volume of Gilles Chaillet's beloved medieval adventure series sets an irresistible scene: against the soaring Gothic spires of Bruges, a dark hooded figure lurks in the shadowy foreground while two young men — one in green, one in red — move through the cobblestone streets behind. The title "Het Spook van Brugge" (The Ghost of Bruges) promises intrigue steeped in the atmosphere of a real Flemish city, and Chaillet's cover linework beautifully captures both the menace of the cloaked presence and the period charm of the medieval backdrop. A fine 1997 entry in this historically rich Dutch-language series from Le Lombard.
