Valerian the Complete Collection #1
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis volume collects the first three stories of the classic French sci-fi series Valerian: The City of Shifting Waters, The Empire of a Thousand Planets, and The Land Without Stars. Written by Pierre Christin and illustrated by Jean-Claude Mézières, these tales follow the adventures of spatio-temporal agent Valerian and his partner Laureline across time and space. Originally published in the 1960s and 1970s, this Cinebook edition presents the complete, full-color English translations of the foundational arcs that inspired the later film adaptation.
"Bad Dreams" kicks off the Valerian the Complete Collection with a dazzling blend of sci-fi and medieval mysticism, as the restless Xombul abandons Galaxity’s sterile perfection to seek magic in the year 1000. With Jean-Claude Mézières’ iconic art and the dynamic collaboration of Pierre Christin and Jérôme Saincantin, the story unfolds across centuries, pairing Valerian’s futuristic mission with the unexpected alliance of the peasant girl Laureline. The cover by Mézières captures the tale’s bold contrast of eras, a striking visual anchor for this landmark entry in the series.
