Joan is relieved to discover that Sam was not injured in the car accident, but was instead responsible for saving a man's life who was injured. Together, they go to break the news of the injury to the man's wife. Although the wife and family are poor, Sam is impressed by the plucky wife despite the fact that her husband has lost his job and will be in the hospital for months. Sam finally realizes that, though the marriage isn't all soft lights and romance, love can carry you through the rough patches.
