Jenny's father had always been a gambler and as she grows up she decides she will never marry a gambler. She falls for Clive, who works as a stock broker and they are saving up for their marriage and a deposit on a house. Then one day he tells her that copper mine has made a big profit and they can get married. She returns home to tell her parents, when her dad excitedly tells her he has won big on a horse named Copper Mine and she realizes it can't be a coincidence. But her mother defends Clive and her father, pointing out that they were good men who just wanted to make them happy.
