“Loneliness Is a Colour…”

"Loneliness Is a Colour…" is a quietly powerful story from Valentine #4 (July 1970), a standout in the series' early run. Written and illustrated with emotional precision by Luis García Mozos, it follows Mike, a newcomer to town, as he forms a tentative bond with Fiona after her breakup—only to confront the lingering shadows of her past. The story unfolds with aching sincerity, exploring connection, unspoken feelings, and the quiet weight of letting go, all rendered in Mozos’s distinctive, evocative style.

Newly arrived in town, Mike sees Robert drop Fiona to date Wenda. She's exactly the kind of girl he'd hoped to meet, so he says hello and asks her to show him around town. He hopes, as Fiona's pain subsides, that she will come to love him. They begin to meet regularly and Fiona becomes happier after her break up. But then Mike hears that Wenda has dropped Robert. When Fiona thinks she sees Robert, her face lights up. Mike realises Fiona still loves Robert and arranges for them to meet again. Mike decides to leave town.
