“Our Time… Our Place”

In "Our Time… Our Place," Julie’s hopeful anticipation turns to confusion when Paul’s shy silence and a hidden note hint at something more. As the disco lights dim and the night unfolds, a stolen kiss and an unexpected announcement leave her scrambling—only to find Paul wasn’t the prankster, but someone who’d been quietly writing his own note all along. A tender, bittersweet moment in a 1970 IPC comic, drawn with quiet grace by Miguel Fuster.

Julie is excited to get a note from Paul asking to meet. When she arrives, she sees him hide another note and an awkward shy silence follows. Julie asks him dancing that night anyway. Annoyingly, Julie's work mates are consistently around. When disco's lights go out, Julie and Paul kiss. They are caught and the DJ announces them as the 'April fools'. Julie realises the note was a joke by her work mates and runs out embarrassed. Paul chases—he didn't write the first note, but had been writing his own to her and glad they've gotten to know each other.
