Chris and April's parents think they are too young to get married, but agree to a deal. If Chris can save a hundred pounds to show he can be thrifty and April can get a diploma in home management, they won't object to the marriage. Chris get a kitchen job in a cafe washing up in the evenings and April signs up for a course in home management at the local evening institute. She finds the cookery classes difficult, but continues to work at it. Six months later, they've reached their goals but no longer have a desire to get married.
