For Jean and Pete, it's love at first sight. They want to get married, but first he wants to meet her folks. That's when Pete discovers that Jean's stepfather had been the governor at a borstal when Pete was serving time for theft, assault and larceny. Now he had retired and moved to the same town where Pete had changed his name and made a new start for himself. While Pete goes to face Mr. Franklin, Jean goes into a church to say a prayer for them.
