“It's Only Love”

In "It's Only Love," Alan and Jean grapple with the quiet monotony of their town, where everyone seems content to stay put—until they dream of escape. When their attempts to save for a trip falter, a risky bet on a horse ends in loss, but the townspeople’s unexpected generosity moves them deeply. Though touched by the kindness, the couple realizes their marriage should begin on their own terms. Alan and Jean wondered why the townspeople never dreamed about getting away from their dull, normal town. First, the couple try to work odd jobs to pay for an exotic getaway. When that seems to be going too slowly, they decide to bet their savings on a horse. The horse loses, but the townspeople, seeing the couple's unhappiness, offer to chip in to pay for their getaway. The couple is touched by their offer, but decide they couldn't start their marriage that way.
