Caroline puts on a cool, aloof act, but knows she doesn't belong in Richard's class. She never lets him drive her home because she doesn't want him to see where she was really from. At an office party, to celebrate Richard clinching the biggest contract the firm's ever handled, he shares the credit with her. He asks her to go for a drive with him the next day and decides to show her where he was born. She is terrified because underneath she is still the little girl from the back streets. But Richard's home is the lodge cottage where his dad's been a gardener all his life.
