Gary and Tricia assume they will get married one day as they walk home from a New Year's Eve party. Then they encounter a girl frantically looking for her boyfriend. The girl explains the situation she is in and the sacrifices she and her boyfriend are willing to make for each other. Gary and Tricia realize that this was what real love looks like and that they didn't have it for each other. They part, sorry that they couldn't find love together.
