After breaking up with Rod, Jan leaves London and goes to the country town of Inglenook for a week. There she meets Pete, who is anti-London, but soon they warm up to each other. The day before she is scheduled to leave, Jan tells Pete that she doesn't want anyone else but him. However, Pete knows she mustn't get involved so soon after Rod. He tells her that if she doesn't find someone else in London, he would still be there next summer.
