The tenth and final volume of Alan Moore and David Lloyd's landmark 1989 series arrives with a cover that pulls the eye upward through a darkened urban alleyway — a cloaked figure at the base of a ladder gazes up toward an ornate wrought-iron doorway above, smoke drifting from somewhere along the shadowed building wall. David Lloyd's moody, low-angle composition gives the scene a sense of charged anticipation, with the architecture itself looming as both obstacle and destination. A fitting visual note on which to close out one of DC's most ambitious mature-readers series of the era.
