While at Glomgold's private island, the boys begin to get suspicious when they cannot contact Donald and Scrooge on their Glomgold-supplied cell phones, and begin to poke around the estate. In the Brazilian jungles, Scrooge and Donald find Gideon McDuck in the lost city the latter was seeking - as Glomgold's prisoner in an old ruin. Glomgold ransoms their lives for a "cubic acre of money" that would permanently, and at last, make him the richest duck in the world. The boys discover Glomgold's "titular sinister secret", but are yet to discover the secret of the island itself.
