“Final Execution Chapter Seven”

Five battle-worn figures stride forward with quiet, purposeful menace on Jerome Opeña's cover — Wolverine at the center, claws drawn, flanked by Deadpool, Psylocke, a winged Angel, and X-23, each weapon bared and ready. It's a striking image of a team that has clearly been through the fire, rendered in a moody sepia palette that gives the whole thing a grim, cinematic weight. Rick Remender and Phil Noto's "Final Execution Chapter Seven" promises the penultimate tension of a saga pushing its characters — and readers — right to the edge.

X-Force returns to Cavern-X only to learn from Deathlok that members of the new Brotherhood have captured Evan and taken him to Genosha. They are trying to manipulate him into becoming the next Apocalypse so that the Shadow King can take control of him and rule the world. Once they arrive on Genosha, however, the team begins to argue as to whether they are prepared to kill Evan again. While they heatedly debate the subject, Deadpool sneaks off to take the matter into his own hands.
