Uncanny Tales #49
In "The Man with No Face!", a wealthy man finds himself unsettled by the sudden arrival of a humble junk dealer next door—only to discover, in a twist that redefines self-perception, that the man is a haunting reflection of his own past. Written by Carl Wessler and illustrated with moody precision by Gene Colan, this 1956 tale from Uncanny Tales #49 uses stark contrasts and quiet dread to explore the cost of ambition. The cover, a striking piece by Carl Burgos, captures the story’s eerie tension before the first page even turns.
